🌍 In 2022, every Australian household paid about $1,532 annually in direct costs due to extreme weather events. By 2050, this figure is expected to rise to $2,509. Insurance premiums have skyrocketed, and many are underinsured.

💰 Australian insurance companies paid $6.41 billion in 2022, a significant jump from $3.9 billion a year earlier. Globally, the economic cost of weather and climate events was estimated at $402 billion, and insurers covered only $151 billion, or about 40% of damages in 2024.

🏠 According to the Climate Council, more than 72,000 Australian homes and businesses are in “critical climate risk zones” where 80-100% of properties are classified as high risk.

🌊 The recent floods that engulfed Queensland covered an area more than four times the size of the United Kingdom, larger than France and Germany combined – and is even bigger than Texas
