How do people perceive and respond to extreme weather events?

57% of Indian districts face high to very high heat risk. On 314 out of 365 days in 2024, India experienced extreme weather events.

But how are people in India perceiving and responding to extreme weather events? How do they see global warming's impact on these events?

In our new study, we surveyed 10,751 people in India to better answer these questions:

🥵 Extreme weather events and their impacts are widespread and deeply concerning for many people in India.
🌡️ Seventy-one per cent of people in India have experienced severe heat waves in the past 12 months.
🌍 Most Indians believe that global warming is influencing extreme weather and its associated effects in India.
